Full Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Dietitian to work as part of a team delivering a specialist nutrition support dietetic service to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. You will be working closely with the Acute Dietetic leads and the wider MDT providing a specialist service to inpatients. There will be opportunity for some outpatient work with surgical/gastroenterology patients.

Specialist clinical skills, a highly professional attitude along with excellent communication skills, organizational skills and a caring and compassionate nature are essential for this post.

You would be part of a team of 13 registered Dietitians), 4 Dietetic Assistants and 3 secretarial support staff. The Department is based in the Acute Trust, providing the Dietetic service to this Trust and a clinical outreach service to West Norfolk and the adjacent part of Cambridgeshire.

Gastroenterology/surgery/artificial nutrition support experience is essential. There will be opportunity for training and development following successful recruitment to the post.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the dietetics team for adult patients working with the

supervision of Band 7 Dietitians to provide a specialist dietetic service

to complex medical and surgical inpatients. This will focus on inpatient

requiring nutritional support, with reference to those with

surgical and gastrointestinal conditions where dietetic intervention is

appropriate. There will also be an opportunity to provide outpatient

support for patients with surgical/gastrointestinal problems.

To deputise for Band 7 Dietitians as agreed and to support Band 5 or 6 Dieitians and Dietetic Assistants.

Lead on audit, development and writing of clinical policies in own area of

work.

To provide clinical supervision and guidance to junior members of staff

and student dietitians.

Take an active part in the education and training of all levels of

health care professional and medical staff.

To provide expert Dietetic and nutritional advice to health care
