Are you a highly motivated, experienced Sonographer with excellent clinical skills who is keen to develop into 'management' and gain a practical understanding about the daily operational challenges within the Obstetric and Gynae Ultrasound service?
We are looking for candidates who are keen to progress their careers into management, developing their decision-making skills whilst providing direct line management and clinical leadership to the sonographers' team.
We can offer both in-house and external leadership training to help you to achieve these objectives. Additionally, the Trust has a well-tested, new managers' induction programme.
Highly developed organisational skills are key for this role, as the successful candidate will co-ordinate the day-to-day running of the Obstetric ultrasound service including rostering and pay returns.
The post has a 50:50 split between admin and clinical tasks; the postholder will be expected to undertake clinical work when necessary.
The post holder will work in partnership with the general Ultrasound and Vascular lead sonographer and the team from the Women and Children's Health division, ensuring the Obstetric Ultrasound service is well-led, safely delivered and that examinations take place in the required timescale .
Additionally, the post holder will be expected to forge strong relationships with the South East Region Imaging training academy team and help to design and develop a sustainable workforce for the future., The successful candidate may have the opportunity to take part in the development of the Ultrasound service part of the Community Diagnostic Centres.
The successful candidate will manage a diverse team and work closely with our preceptor sonographers to ensure there is clear oversight of ongoing sonographer training so it is delivered at the highest quality and learners are on track for academic milestones.
In addition to clinical work, the post holder will write standard documents, lead the investigation of patient complaints, draft responses, investigate incidents and write/implement action plans. The post holder will also lead on the recruitment and retention of staff.

Successful candidates will be appointed to the first pay step within the band when they start with the Trust (unless they have previous relevant NHS continuous service), thereafter individuals will progress up the pay steps in accordance with NHS Agenda for Change (AfC) terms and conditions. For part time roles you will receive a pro rata'd (proportional) salary payment based on the appropriate pay step/point and hours worked in accordance with AfC and all medical and dental terms and conditions.
