If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic team as an Occupational Health Practitioner at Band 6 level within the NHS. As a Band 6 Occupational Health Practitioner within the National Health Service (NHS), you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the health and well-being of our dedicated healthcare workforce. Operating within NHS guidelines, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of occupational health functions to support a healthy and thriving workplace environment.

  • Please be advised that interviews for this role are scheduled for 29th October 2024, 1.Undertake health assessment pre-employment and during employment in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and statutory requirements, assisting with the placement of employees with health conditions referring to senior Practitioner as necessary.
  • 2.Manage a delegated caseload and assess, plan, deliver and evaluate programmes of care.. 3.Develop a client centred approach to care and ensure that clinics run to meet the needs of the client group e.g. to time, with appropriately times appointments in conjunction with the senior Practitioner 4.Undertake health surveillance of staff groups exposed to hazardous substances in accordance with HSE requirements ensuring that completed surveillance results are relayed to the relevant department/Organisation manager. 5.Provide support through difficult/distressing situations e.g. employees facing personal difficulties/suspension. Referring to the senior nurse as appropriate. 6.Contribute to the improvement of the health of all staff through the development/delivery of a programme of health promotion activities e.g. health fairs, induction, lifestyle screening. 7.Utilise and ensure others utilise departmental and Trust IT systems to ensure accurate and timely client, workforce and data available
  • Please be informed that successful candidate will be required to work across Coventry & Warwickshire network, 1.Develop and maintain effective working relationships and communications with clients, managers and other professionals to ensure seamless service delivery and continuity of care.
  • 2.Maintain accurate, appropriate and confidential staff and statutory records in accordance with department/NMC guidance on note taking and HSE requirements. Produce clear, concise factual reports within expected time frame. 3.Ensure vaccines are stored appropriately and use Patient Group Directions (PGDs) to deliver immunisation/vaccination and treatment programmes in accordance with Occupational Health Department policies and procedures and ensure that all other OH nurses work to PGDs as described. 4.Maintain stocks and supplies to ensure availability of vaccines and clinical equipment. 5.Risk assess and manage blood and body fluid contamination incidents and advise on the need for post exposure prophylaxis (PEP) in accordance with Trust policy, in conjunction with the senior nurse. 6.Assess the working environment following managerial/self-referral or pre-employment health assessment, referring to the senior nurses as necessary. 7.Comply with the principles of risk management promoting high standards, acting immediately on hazards or unsafe practices within the department and organisation, liaising with other disciplines as necessary. 8.Identify to the Head of department/Principal OH Practitioner circumstances where breach of confidentiality may be warranted to inform Trust management where an employee or patient's safety is at risk. 9.Participate in staff induction as required, ensuring the services of the OHD is adequately publicized.
