Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Occupational Therapist to join our Primary Care team at HMP Lewes, a category B men's Prison located in Lewes. This site has good transport links with regular buses close by, on-site gym, subsidised café, but also a really good learning environment to work with a close-knit team. Hours 22.5 hours per week working across 3 days, 7.5 hours a day between 8am-4, flexible on what 3 days these are worked., As an Occupational Therapist, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Be responsible for the provision of occupational therapy assessment, treatment and evaluation.
  • You will provide visible and professional support to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and rehabilitation aimed at improving or maintaining independence.
  • Working with a caseload of patients with varying difficulties including complete health and social care needs; responding effectively to the changing needs of the patient caseload, managing the sometimes conflicting priorities of prevention of admission and discharge.
  • You'll assess and order equipment as identified by patient need and allocate work to OT assistant or care staff as necessary. Establishing communication networks with other team members, patients and other health and social care agencies, attending joint visits with other professionals as required.

    Diploma/ degree in occupational therapy with current professional qualification (HCPC)
  • Post registration experience and evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication and assessment skills
  • Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards
  • Knowledge of healthcare policies and best practice
