Opportunities have arisen for Occupational Therapists to join Richmond and Wandsworth Councils enablement service. We aim to promote independence for the residents, to improve health and overall wellbeing. The enablement team offers short term 6 weeks care receiving referrals from the community, social work teams and hospitals. We are a creative, dynamic and supportive team and are looking for Occupational Therapists who are committed to the same high standards of practice., As an Occupational Therapist you will be required to:
- Work with people over the age of 18, manage a caseload requiring assessment, review and on-going support to make a real difference in achieving improved outcomes for the service user. You will be required to complete home visits weekly in person.
- Collaborate with care agencies work in partnership with residents, their families, and carers to enable them to identify their strengths, maximise their functional independence and well-being, cope with change, attain outcomes they want and need and understand and manage risk in activities of daily living.
- Prescribe, order or recommend specialist disability equipment, minor adaptations, and standard wheelchairs. To support adults and their carers in the safe installation, maintenance, and use of equipment.
- Review and update Mosaic system taking suitable notes and updating the system with case notes.
- Undertake Moving & Handling Risk Assessments, assessing the needs of both adults and carers; provide specialist moving and handling equipment, recommendations, advice, demonstration, support, training, and a Personal Handling Plan.
- The occupational therapist will work standard 36 hours Monday to Friday. There will be the voluntary option to work additional hours over the weekend with over time allowance. This is a hybrid working role, you will be expected to work from Wandsworth Council offices when you are completing visits. You will also be working from home and managing your workload according to priorities. Richmond and Wandsworth Councils Adults Services offers a strong learning and development offer. - A relevant professional qualification in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the HCPC.
- Experience of achieving positive outcomes for adults and the community through multi-disciplinary and partnership working.
- Knowledge of relevant social care and health legislation and government guidance and developments impacting on Adult Social Care and Health services.
- Sound knowledge of Occupational Therapy methods, practices and models and their application in a range of settings.
