Full Job Description

PICS are pleased to be able to offer an additional Mental Health Occupational Therapist post in Nottingham West PCN, South Nottinghamshire areas within Primary Care. You will be joining an established team of thriving Mental Health Occupational Therapists within PICS and within the Nottingham West team. This team have been able to present their successful service to HRH Princess Anne in February 2024, highlighting the need to have Mental Health OTs at the start of a patients journey. The PCN have also set up successful group programmes alongside Mental Health Health and Well-Being Coaches. You will be supported by a wider team of clinicians including two Mental Health OTs, three Mental Health Health and Well-Being Coaches and our Occupational Therapist Clinical Lead who is on the PICS Leadership Team. Nottingham West PCN covers 12 GP surgeries in Broxtowe and 109 000 patients. We have an active social prescribing team, a health a wellbeing coach and close links with the local leisure centres and the wider community, as well as clinical teams who work with GPs to support the patients in the area. PICs have Mental Health OTs working in other PCNs and have had encouraging feedback from patients and clinicians with regards to the benefits of the service.,

  • The ability to take a lead role in completing autonomous advanced assessments, triage and treatment of acute and chronic presentations for patients with mental health concerns attending primary care.
  • To help patients identify their needs and make shared decisions about management using current evidenced based practice.
  • Liaise with Primary Care colleagues to ensure that all the patients needs are addressed.
  • Support Primary Care colleagues development in the best treatment and onward management strategies by attending meetings, delivering educational sessions and supporting PCN Practitioners.

    Occupational Therapy Qualification and Registration or equivalent.
  • Experience working in Adult Mental Health
