Full Job Description

Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are coming soon. Close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.

  • To provide a specialist Occupational Therapy service to the Perinatal mental health team including clients with complex mental health needs.

  • To use evidence based, client centred Occupational Therapy assessments, interventions and outcome measures underpinned by Model of Human Occupational and the Recovery Approach.

  • To be responsible for leading delegated occupational therapy and multi-disciplinary projects primarily within the Perinatal mental health team and within other services as delegated

  • To act as the designated Disability Champion leading the multi-disciplinary team in Disability Equality matters including full accessibility within the Perinatal mental health team and other areas as required.

  • To provide leadership for junior Occupational Therapy and support staff, through supervision and appraisal.

  • To work collaboratively and effectively within a multi-disciplinary community team liaising with inpatient services and community-based services as required

  • To liaise with other Occupational Therapy and multi-disciplinary staff within the Trust and other services as required.

  • To regularly supervise OT students on practice placement.

  • To attend and contribute to relevant clinical meetings.

  • To develop and maintain professional practice within the field of perinatal mental health and Occupational Therapy.

  • To provide Occupational Therapy interventions flexibly within different settings as required.

  • To respond, sometimes at short notice, to requests to see the team's patients either individually or jointly with other team members (e.g., when a patient is in the red zone).

  • To attend and participate in all team zoning meetings unless absent by prior arrangement.

  • To attend CPA meetings or Tribunals where appropriate.

  • To occasionally participate in scheduled and emergency meetings held under the Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements.

  • To be contactable, by mobile telephone or other agreed method at all times during working hours.

    This is an exciting opportunity to join the South West London and St George's Perinatal Mental Health Service.


  • We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Band 6 Perinatal Occupational Therapist to join our specialist Perinatal Community Service. The post-holder will work alongside a Band 7 Occupational Therapist within our highly skilled multi-disciplinary service comprising of Medics, Nurses, Social Workers, Nursery Nurses, Psychologists, Psychotherapists and administrators.

    The post holder will be supported by a Band 7 Clinical Lead OT and will manage a caseload of clients in line with the requirements of the service line operational policy ensuring safe, evidence based, effective, culturally competent care is delivered in a timely manner to service users.

    You will offer Specialist Occupational Therapy interventions utilising specialist assessment and evaluation tools drawn from the Model of Human Occupation and will formulate, implement and review plans for the treatment and management of women with a full range of clinical presenting problems.
