Hello! My name is Dawn and I am the OT professional lead within SWYPT and I am excited to share the opportunity for you join our Band 5 Occupational therapy rotation across Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield. Whether you are unsure of which field of mental health you want to work in or just like variety this really could be the post for you.
Rotations not only allow you to experience working a variety of clinical settings, it also allows you to transfer and develop your clinical skills and knowledge within each area and overall develop your Occupational therapy skills within mental health services.
Each rotation will be for 6 months in duration and the rotations posts are available within:
Adult in patient services (Wakefield and Calderdale)
Adult Forensic service Low secure (Wakefield)
In patient acute older peoples services (Wakefield)
Community Core Team (Wakefield)
Adult Forensic service Medium secure (Wakefield)
Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation - Kirklees.
You will be working alongside skilled Occupational therapists who will provide support, regular supervision and a preceptorship programme is also available if required.
The trust supports learning and there will be a variety of learning opportunities available to you throughout your rotations.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will rotate every 6 months to a new specialism within the field of mental health. You will be able to highlight your preferences to the service of your choice and where possible this will be accommodated. You will receive supervision and support within each rotation and your appraisal will be completed by the service you are in at that time.
You will work with services users within community, ward, clinic and a home environment to provide holistic assessment and treatment. You will carry a caseload and prioritise your intervention. You will adopt a client centred and sensitive approach to therapy, collaborating with clients (and/or carer(s) where appropriate) in all aspects of the occupational therapy process.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required for this post. You will communicate accurate and sensitive information to clients and carers using an appropriate and accessible medium, taking into consideration relevant factors such as background, culture, gender, age and any physical, sensory or learning difficulties, adopting an empathic approach at all times.
You will work in line with HCPC standards and within the Trusts policies and guidelines at all times.
