Are you an experienced band 6 OT looking to develop your skills in a mixed acute rotation or a confident and motivated Band 5 who is looking for a development Band 6 Occupational Therapist role? Are you a motivated and forward thinking Occupational Therapist looking to develop specialist skills within an acute in-patient therapy team? We are looking for talented Occupational Therapists who want to develop their skills, provide high class therapy and care to our local populations. Occupational Therapists are highly regarded within our hospitals and the development of skills and experiences will be supported by a newly appointed practice development Occupational Therapist. You will be expected to provide a high quality efficient Occupational Therapy service to in-patients (supported by a Band 7 Occupational Therapist) by rotation through the following specialty disciplines : o Orthopaedics (Trauma) / Surgery, Acute Inpatients Ealing Hospitalo Neurology, Acute Inpatient Rehab Ealing Hospitalo DMOP (Department Medicine for Older People), to include AMU cover at times, EalingHospitalo Medical, Respiratory Medicine, Acute Inpatients Ealing Hospitalo And other rotational placements that become available. Main duties of the job To assist Band 7 Occupational Therapist in the organisation and developmentof a comprehensive Occupational Therapy service for To manage own caseload including assessment, treatment and support ofclients, applying specialised skills and To provide and gain appropriate information from clients and carers regardingtheir needs and concerns, in order to provide a service to meet those To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team and to providecoordinated and comprehensive treatment To refer to various multidisciplinary team members as appropriate followingassessment of patient needs., To view the main responsibility, please see the attached the Job Description and Person Specification.

  • Diploma / degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Healthcare Professionals Council registration.

  • Relevant postgraduate training
  • Knowledge & Experience Essential
  • Experience in in-patient physical service setting both acute and rehab. Experience in acute community / outpatient setting experience gained through Band 5 rotations in Medicine, orthopaedic / surgery, Medicine for Older Persons
  • Experience of supervising junior members of team and / or students in day-to-day working.
  • Knowledge / ability to use a range of different assessments and interventions with patients with cardiac, respiratory, surgical, neuro and orthopaedic conditions
  • Knowledge of inter-agency working

  • Knowledge and application of standardised assessments
  • Attended student practice educators course
  • Knowledge of NSF and how it would affect OT service provision in area of work Interest and further study in area of work
  • Skills, Abilities , Attributes Essential
  • Evidence of clinical application of core physical and mental health Occupational Therapy skills
  • Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Evidence of CPD and self-directed learning.
  • Participation in teaching, both in a group setting and on a one-to-one
  • Participation in audits, research and clinical governance
  • Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner and to be able to act on own initiative
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate work and ability to manage a busy caseload.
  • An understanding of providing services to a diverse patient population in the community
  • IT skills use of email / office products.
  • Understanding of local and national guidelines and implications for Occupational Therapy and client care.
  • Ability to work flexibly in order to meet the needs of the service extended hours and weekends
