Full Job Description

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, helpful, friendly and motivated individual with great people skills, to work as an Occupational Therapy Assistant as part of the Orthopaedic team at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. The team covers a busy trauma orthopaedic ward for patients with hip fractures and the Sussex Orthopaedic Centre where patients come for planned joint replacement surgery.

The orthopaedic Occupational Therapy team work across the above wards and also work closely with the Medical/Surgical Occupational Therapy Team., You will work with the occupational therapy team to provide assessment, rehabilitation and support to patients across the orthopaedic wards, and also assist staff with discharge planning. You may be asked to assist in some community visits alongside your in-patient work.

You may have some responsibilities across the Occupational Therapy Service such as keeping leaflets and information on community services organised and up to date and helping manage our store of equipment.

We have a comprehensive In-Service Training Programme and staff are encouraged and supported in their continuous professional development. You will be supported by senior occupational therapists and have regular supervision sessions and annual appraisal.

This post provides an excellent opportunity for someone either taking their first step into a Band 3 role or someone who is already established. Previous experience within an Occupational Therapy Team is preferable but if you are able to evidence transferable skills on your application you may be offered an interview.
