Full Job Description

To support the facilitation of individual and group Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions. This is done through working collaboratively with patients who are referred to the Community Mental Health Team in Wisbech (Fenland Adult Locality Team). The OT assistant is supported through guidance and supervision of Occupational Therapist colleagues.

Mental health issues can negatively impact on a person's ability to carry out the things that matter to them including personal care, leisure, vocational and social occupations. In alignment with the shared values of the Occupational Therapy team, you will enable individuals to recognise their strengths, empower them to regain their occupational identityand competence, develop coping strategies, build support networks, tackle barriers to their daily living through participation in meaningful occupation and make measurable progress with through personalised goals.

Developing your existing talents, learning new skills and with supervision of Occupational Therapists, you will help to develop a range of activities that support people through their recovery journey. Utilising a caring, supportive, proactive, and person-centred approach, you will support individuals to achieve their personal goals and enhance their quality of life., The post holder will be based at Agenoria House, Wisbech, working in community occupational Therapy Team. Guidance and supervision will be offered by the Occupational Therapists within the team.

Overall responsibility for Occupational Therapy interventions is held by the Occupational Therapists. However, as the OTA you will be heavily involved in assessment, intervention delivery, evaluation, and quality measurement processes.

Your work will predominantly be with the service users of the Adult Community Service, but where appropriate may include interaction with family and carers, other mental health professionals, and other non-NHS agencies.

The format for interventions will include both group-based and targeted individual 1:1 session. These may be held at base, the community or within the person's own home.

Interventions will focus on supporting/promoting independence through person-centred goals in areas such as daily living skills, self-care, leisure activities, vocation, social inclusion, developing coping strategies, and building support networks.
