Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term part time occupational therapy assistant with Shropshire Community Perinatal Team. You will have an interest and enthusiasm in providing occupational therapy to women with a range of perinatal mental health needs.
We are a specialist service that strives to deliver an excellent standard of care to expectant and new mothers who are experiencing severe and complex mental health problems. The team is multi-disciplinary and works directly with women and their family's providing assessment, interventions and support for pregnant women and women within the postnatal period with a range of mental health needs.
You will join a friendly multidisciplinary team who are innovative and have a patient centred approach at the heart of their delivery. The team work with partners both within and outside of the Trust, with close links with Maternity Services, Maternal Mental Health Services, Health Visiting, NHS Talking Therapies, and other mental health services.
The PMHT covers Telford and Shropshire area. The team base is in Bridgnorth, and we use other MPFT facilities across the county. Blended working options are centred around clinical demand., · To carry a designated caseload which remains the responsibility of the registered Occupational Therapist, often working without direct supervision in a variety of community settings, including the service users own home.
· Delivering a high-quality clinical service to patients and their families.
+ To provide occupational therapy support to service users who have a range of perinatal mental health conditions to enable them to maintain, restore or create a balance between their abilities and the demands of their occupation and environment in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure.
+ To engage service users and their carers in co-produced/planned therapy programmes and encourage them in a compassionate manner, towards achieving their identified goals and to promote independence and well-being through a client centred approach.
+ To provide the best possible experience for service users and carers.
+ To show commitment to and participate in quality improvement activities.
+ To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.
+ To promote at all times a positive image of the occupational therapy service/neighbourhood and the wider Trust.
