Full Job Description

You will carry a clinical caseload and have responsibilities to provide a range of interventions across forensic services
The post also offers an opportunity to develop clinical skills in assessment, case formulations and goal settings. We currently use the Vona Du Toit Model of Creative Ability. We would ensure that you receive the relevant training and support when you join the team.
We have clear clinical models and pathways for service users moving from our acute wards into rehabilitation and through into the community with occupational performance skills being central to the readiness for transition through each stage of a service user recovery.
You will be instrumental in ensuring service user's sensory needs are identified supported clinically and support MDT's to understand and work with sensory needs.
Leading on the operationalising of sensory rooms and staff training.
Supervision of staff and students is expected as a minimum of two students per year, however Forensic services has a very high number of student placements which are very proud of. As a department we feel it is a significant contribution to the future of Occupational Therapy and a high quality workforce

We have a wide range of services and facilitate cross service learning, teaching and development. We have a regular development group monthly that looks at project work and clinical development including Quality Improvement, audits and research.
As an AHP Service we have a strong commitment to CPD within the trust and provide a range of opportunities for staff with the expectation that learning is shared and clinical excellence is achieved. We have regular trust AHP forums, study days and learning lessons conferences.
The St Bernard's site is well situated with excellent public transport links, adjacent to Southall and Hanwell. Ealing general hospital provides a range of facilities including food, drink options and a WH Smith. Forensic services also have our own food options run by service users and staff called Café on the Hill for staff and visitors to enjoy.
Our working hours are Monday to Friday 8-4pm or 9-5pm. However, we recognise the need to be flexible and support both compressed hours, full time and part time hours, depending on the role and also school hours 10 till 2pm will be considered, Working with multi-disciplinary team members and the wider AHP service. To provide a client-centred service to a defined caseload of service users with complex needs across West London forensic services.
To use evidence-based principles to apply clinical skills and reasoning in sensory integration, assessment, treatment planning, intervention and evaluation which include individual and group orientated approaches.
To be a resource for the team, providing, sensory integration and to lead on the evaluation of this approach for service users.
To provide leadership and taking responsibility for the direct supervision for less clinically experienced staff, support staff and students including conducting Performance Development Review (PDR) as appropriate.

West London NHS Trust provides a full range of mental health, community and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.
We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

The Forensic Services based at St Bernard's Hospital on the Ealing site in London are comprised of a number of specialist areas including Women's and Men's services at both low and medium security. The post holder will join an already established Occupational Therapy service and will be joining an experienced and dynamic team.
We have a wider Occupational Therapy service comprising of occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, activity coordinators and Recovery Support workers.
You will be professionally supervised and supported by the Head of AHP and Rehab to deliver an occupational therapy, sensory integration program within Specialist Forensic Community services.
