Full Job Description

Please note that in addition to these responsibilities, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.

  • To assist with the accurate processing and maintenance of the sales and purchase ledger registers.

  • To provide general sales and administration support to the Branch Manager., Responsible for the smooth day to day running of sales and purchase ledger activities.

  • Banking and reconciliation.

  • Handling customer enquiries via telephone and e-mail.

  • Assisting with the development and implementation of new processes and ways of working to increase efficiency.

  • Setting up new client and supplier accounts after carrying out due diligence.

  • Accurate booking in of goods and reporting any errors to the supplier.

  • Matching invoices to receipted purchase orders and inputting to the system.

  • Day-to-day accounts payable - contacting customers via telephone and e-mail.

  • Filing invoices and statements.

  • Dealing with purchase enquiries.

  • Assisting in preparing Key Performance Indicator (KPI) statistics.

  • Maintain and promote a positive, professional image of DJ Evans Group in all interactions.

  • Adherence to all internal policies and all Safety, Health and Environmental policies.

  • Supporting the Branch Manager to achieve departmental goals.

  • Producing excel reports.

  • Covering for other colleagues as required.

  • Experience of working with sale ledger / purchase ledger / accounts payable.

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.

  • Numerate and logical.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Customer focused with a drive to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Ability to use and adapt to financial systems and databases.

  • Ability to work on own initiative.

  • Accurate and efficient inputter.

  • IT literate.

  • Problem solving skills.


  • Desirable:
  • Previous experience in building materials, tools and fixings or similar environment would be an advantage.

  • Previous sales and negotiating skills would be a benefit but not essential

  • Sales or marketing qualifications.

    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent


  • Pay: £24,000.00-£28,000.00 per year,
