Full Job Description

We have an opportunity for you to join our Oncology Services here at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust as an Oncology Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist., To establish and provide a specialist nursing service for the care and ongoing management of patients diagnosed with lung cancers undergoing Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT), Radiotherapy and supportive treatments.

You will participate in the provision of high-quality care from diagnosis, through treatment and during follow up. You will make informed decisions within your own area and scope of professional practice to ensure agreed standards and targets are met.

The post holder will develop and implement opportunities for advancing nursing practice and for ensuring collaborative working relationships, incorporating expert clinical practice, leadership, consultation, and education.

Please note that a secondment must be approved by your current line manager.

We are looking for a dynamic, inspirational and forward thinking nurse who is passionate about cancer nursing and has the ability to drive this Service forward. You should have extensive experience in Oncology as well as having excellent leadership, management and communication skills.

The post holder will play a key role in ensuring high standards of care for all patients and will be an integral key member in the co-ordination and organisation of lung cancer pathways, throughout treatment, symptom management, relapse, emergency admissions and living with and beyond cancer. You will also work in a consultancy capacity across our Trust and local health care services.

The post holder will act as an autonomous nurse specialist and will develop and deliver nurse led services within oncology lung cancer. This will include telephone, face to face activity and inpatient reviews.

Enthusiasm, a desire to learn and flexibility are essential for this role, as are good interpersonal and organisation skills. This post will be based primarily at the University Hospitals site, however, there will be travel to the site of Rugby St Cross for outpatient clinics and to our new Maple Day Unit.
