Full Job Description

  • To provide a high standard of assessment and treatment for patients referred to the service


  • To take responsibility for an agreed clinical caseload, involving care co-ordination asappropriate toensure continuity


  • To collaboratively assess and provide needs-based treatment programmes and discharge plans for patients, utilising Care Programme Approach (CPA) where appropriate


  • To plan and provideappropriate therapyservices in consultation with users, carers and clinical teams for patients referred, within defined resources and using evidence-based practice


  • To develop andmaintainrelevant and evidence-based therapeutic activities asappropriate tothe patient group served, including opportunities for cognitive, creative, education, work, leisure, interpersonal and life skills


  • To regularly review and evaluate treatment programmes with patients,carersand members of the clinical teams


  • Toparticipatein clinical meetings, case conferences and CPA meetings


  • To enable the transition of patients through stages in their care involving care planning and therapy programmes


  • To compile written reports as required and to generate andmaintainaccuratetreatment records in eachpatientsfile, which are stored securely


  • To complete the post-graduate diploma in children and young people's CBT at the University of Reading

    BHFT CAMHS and the University of Readingare looking fora number oftrainee Cognitive-Behavioural Therapists to support over the next year within our Berkshire CAMHS Anxiety Disorder Treatment Team (ADTT) in Reading and Getting Help Teams in Windsor, Ascot & Maidenhead (WAM), Bracknell and Sloughand East Specialist Community Team.Successful candidates will be able to express a choice oflocalityand we will endeavour to place them at their chosen team, however this may not always be possible and the final decision lays with BHFT.


  • The ADTT is based at the UoR and is a specialist treatment service for young people in Berkshire with anxiety disorders andObsessive Compulsive Disorder(OCD). Itcontainsa committed and supportive team of clinicians with a passion for delivering formulation driven CBT in a creative way to help children and young people. Itis an innovative and highly valued part of BHFT and has a strong research collaboration with the University of Reading.

    The Getting Help Teams work with children and young people who need quick, short-term support with low to moderate mental health issues and work alongside Early Help services to provide care at the earliest point.
