Full Job Description

  • Are you friendly, caring and passionate about making a difference in your local community?
  • Do you thrive in a dynamic, supportive, and team-oriented environment, where no two days are the same?
  • Do you want to work in a role with guaranteed hours and a set rota that allows you to plan ahead and manage your personal life?
  • Look no further! We have a fantastic opportunity to join our OneCall Service here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract. As a OneCall Officer, you will play a vital role in delivering 24-hour emergency response services to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our clients. You'll work with a diverse range of clients, providing meaningful, hands-on care that makes a real difference to the lives of our most vulnerable residents. No two days are the same within OneCall: you could be office-based dealing with OneCall's clients via our call handling platform one day, responding to clients in their own homes following a fall the next, or conducting follow-up welfare visits, all uniquely rewarding in their own way. You will provide support in line with the client's individual needs, including emergency response, referral to GPs and other external providers as needed, or working closely with our reablement service to support residents to live independently in their own homes. This role is perfect for individuals looking for stability as we offer full-time guaranteed hours, with the opportunity for overtime if you desire. You will work on a set rota pattern, agreed 4-5 weeks in advance with every other weekend off, allowing you to plan your life around your work. You'll be joining a highly supportive and friendly team with plenty of opportunities for training and development. For those who are not seeking set contracted hours, we are also able to offer roles on a casual basis so you can provide availability around your other commitments. Whilst experience in social care is desirable, we are looking for individuals who are personable, flexible, have excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to support our clients. As you will be conducting visits across the borough, you will also hold a valid driving licence. We provide full training, including a Care Quality Commission (CQC) qualification and regular 1:1 supervision to support your long-term career goals. We also provide fleet vehicles for work-related travel, so you don't have to use your own. In addition to conducting visits, you'll also have the opportunity to gain experience in other areas of OneCall, including office work, call handling, and programming our equipment.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council prides itself on being a great place to work where staff are trusted, valued and supported to make a positive contribution at work. We offer an excellent total reward package, including:
  • A competitive salary of up to £25,992
  • 27 days annual leave per year rising to 32 with 5 years' service (plus bank holidays). Ability to purchase additional leave is also available.
  • Generous Pension Scheme through the LGPS with ability to pay extra and plan for retirement.
  • Access to a number of other employee benefits including learning & development opportunities, a car lease scheme, discounts at high street and online retailers, an employee assistance programme and physiotherapy services.
