Full Job Description

The mission of the Onsite Service Engineer is to deliver frontline support in key operational activities including installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of Edwards products. Key areas of focus will be on safety and quality, whilst maintaining customer satisfaction.

This is a great opportunity to join Edwards, part of the Atlas Copco Group, based at a key customer site in Newport, Wales. The role reports into the Service Team Leader UK/IRE and the job holder will be part of a broader team that spans the EMEA region.

As Onsite Engineer at the customer site, you will be located within a commutable distance of the site, and ideally within the Newport area.,

  • Undertakes all maintenance activities (including installation and commissioning) of Edwards products in line with Edwards global standards, whilst ensuring complete customer satisfaction

  • Provides front line support for key field service activities at customer sites ensuring a strong focus on customer satisfaction

  • Conducts fault-finding and troubleshooting support in order to resolve or escalate issues within the agreed contractual timeframes in order to meet customer expectations

  • Conducts all field service activities within the boundaries of all applicable regulations, policies and procedures to ensure organizational, safety and health obligations are met. Risk control elements covering all relevant aspects of the field service role must be adhered to always.

  • Provides detailed and accurate feedback on activities and compiles clear and concise reports for submission to the line manager and/or technical support to enable informed decisions to be made to resolve product issues

  • Uses Edwards processes and operating platforms, to accurately capture service related information, as determined by the scope of responsibility for creation of field service notifications and orders, through to completion

    Strong customer focus to ensure delivered solutions, meet customer expectations and time frames, whilst working in alignment with Edwards strategies and processes

  • Proactively seeks customer feedback and asks questions to understand customers business

  • Ability to share technical expertise and knowledge and provide coaching to less experienced team members

  • Be able to self manage in a busy and demanding work environment

  • Collaborates and supports with team members to deliver company objectives

  • Complies with all applicable laws, policies and standards to ensure organisational, safety and health obligations are met

  • Good communication skills. Very good command of written and spoken English is required

  • Able to use computer software to record data and write reports

  • Can understand and interpret Technical Documentation relevant to work e.g. Electrical Schematics, P&IDS and Mechanical drawings

  • Education level: Technical Certificate or degree level in an Electro/Mechanical or Chemical discipline. Previous experience in an engineering service environment. Preferably from chemical, vacuum or Semiconductor environment.

  • + Or 4+ years of equivalent experience in relevant technical field such as electronic, mechanical, chemical, gas, refrigeration or basic vacuum. Experience in Field Service and or the Semiconductor industry is preferred.
