Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced and well organised individual to join the Maternity and Neonatal services at Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital. The successful applicant will provide clear operational leadership across the service ensuring that services are safe and well led. The post holder will develop close relationships within the wider operational team and with clinical colleagues to ensure that service capacity is effectively used and managed. Assessment and management of complex operational issues including outpatients, inpatients, theatre flow and medical rota management, will be integral to this role. Through their experience, the successful applicant will demonstrate leadership and management of services and use effective communication strategies to ensure that all services are well led and staff engagement is maintained. The Operational Manager will take on responsibilities in service developments, business cases and management of SLA agreements. To be successful in the operational management role you will need to demonstrate your resilience and experience in operational management and as a compassionate leader. You will show how you have supported operational, administrative, and clinical to teams to deliver high quality care and have lead service and or quality improvements in previous roles.,

  • The post holder will support the divisions in leading and managing the performance of the clinical specialties in the delivery of planned service capacity through the effective use of resources.
  • To manage the performance of the clinical specialties against local and national qualitative and quantitative service targets and within the Trust's financial allocations.
  • To lead and manage the assessment of complex operational issues and challenges facing the Directorate. This will demand high levels of judgment, analysis and interaction to agree clear solutions and recommendations that the post holder will be responsible for implementing.
  • To provide effective and innovative leadership and management, ensuring clear direction concerning service improvement and effective utilisation of resources.
