Operational Water Sampler

Following vital scientific processes, you'll continuously work within regulatory guidelines, meeting our quality standards. You'll prepare various sampling bottles, flasks and vials, demonstrating samples are collected, preserved and transported with care, ensuring the accuracy of every single sample that you collect. You will then return your samples to your local Water Treatment Works for them to be returned to the Central Laboratory for analysis. The work you will do is critical to the whole scientific analysis process; you really will make a difference. You will build effective working relationships with your colleagues in the entire Quality and Environment department, working alongside your sampling team; site technicians; couriers and scientists. You will also engage with customers, where you will be the face of Anglian Water. You will be working in your local community, building relationships and providing reassurance in a professional and approachable manner delivering excellent customer service. Your role will include standby roughly one week in every two months. During this week, while completing your weekly activities, you may also be called-out in the evenings or over the weekend to help respond to sampling events., Anglian Water is a 365 day a year operation, you'll have a flexible approach to your role and be required to take part in a standby rota, which may include weekend and evening sampling.

You will be working within a sampling team but it is essential that you are familiar with and comfortable with lone working as you will spend the majority of your time by yourself. You'll need to be comfortable with driving long distances throughout the region, covering a large area. This role will find you working in a variety of environments, therefore a flexible and can-do attitude is essential. You will be working in all weather conditions sampling indoors and outdoors. The ability to work within a defined method and record information accurately means you'll need focus and a strong attention to detail. You should thrive in a time critical role, be self-motivated and able to work in an organised manner ensuring all work is undertaken as specified by our methods and procedures. If successful in your application, you will benefit from access to a company vehicle; you must hold a full UK driving licence and live within the Mildenhall or surrounding areas. You will also require a Basic DBS check.

Before it reaches our customer's tap, drinking water is cleaned, disinfected and tested to ensure it's safe to be consumed; after the water has been flushed and poured into our sewers, it's delivered to our water recycling works, where it's cleaned before it gets passed back to nature, where it's also tested to ensure it's not going to damage the environment.
