Full Job Description

This is a full-time position based in our office near Dorchester, Dorset. You will be primarily leading and managing the operations side of our business with support from our Operations Director. Key tasks will likely involve:

  • Forward work planning, prioritising and identifying gaps in the project look-ahead
  • Working with our sales and design team to ensure workflow and capacity
  • Provide our site managers with project packs
  • Liaison with site managers and teams including sub-contractors
  • Project planning using appropriate tools (such as CS Project software)
  • Skills matrix management
  • Compliance management
  • Manage Health & Safety
  • ISO and management process control
  • Stock control and ordering
  • Manage stocktakes, stock movements and forward ordering
  • Negotiate prices with suppliers & plant hire companies
  • Manage purchase orders, purchase invoice authorisation and supplier queries
  • Typical Office hours are 0800-1700 but early starts and/or late finishes may be required. Given the specialist nature of what we do it may be necessary to travel long distances by road/rail to our projects or project meetings.

    You are a highly motivated individual and you will be actively looking to integrate into our small, close-knit team. Managing a fluid workload comes as second nature and you are comfortable managing a team. You already have experience as an Operations Manager. You will have a full, clean driving licence as some driving will inevitably be required. You are personable, willing to listen and of a bright, cheerful disposition. Your character is just as important to us and the 'can-do' approach that you often hear about is a vital pre-requisite. You may be passionate about landscapes and if you're passionate about water and the environment that's even better! Essential skills Minimum of 5 years industry experience working in an operations management role
  • Strong ability to manage resources and projects, and work to tight deadlines
  • Capability to manage team members
  • Self-motivated and client focused
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office/365
  • Good people skills
  • (Ideally) an industry recognised 'Managing Safely' safety qualification, Strong background in compliance management
  • - Proven experience in overseeing operational processes - Excellent leadership and decision-making skills - Ability to analyze data and make strategic recommendations - Effective communication and interpersonal skills - Relevant certifications or training in operations management,
