Full Job Description

As a Catering Operations Manager, your role will involve a wide range of responsibilities to ensure the seamless and successful operation of the catering services. Key duties include:

  • Motivating and managing a team across multiple areas of the site: Lead by example, inspiring your team to deliver exceptional service and maintain high standards across all facets of the operation.
  • Controlling and managing the budget: You will create a robust financial foundation, ensuring effective budget management and identifying opportunities for financial growth while maintaining cost-efficiency.
  • Ensuring ongoing team communication: Facilitate effective communication with both internal teams and external partners, ensuring clear management reporting, client liaison, and fostering relationships that enable operational excellence and business retention. This also involves planning innovative menus in collaboration with the culinary team.
  • Managing the catering team: This includes recruiting, training, and supervising staff, as well as planning shifts and motivating your team to maintain morale and productivity.
  • Ensuring quality: Consistently deliver the highest quality of food and service within the allocated budget, ensuring that the client's expectations are exceeded.
  • Overseeing operations: Manage the day-to-day operations, from venue preparation and equipment maintenance to inventory control, ensuring all processes run efficiently.
  • Managing budgets: Establish financial targets, closely monitor spending, manage payroll, and ensure the financial health of the operation.
  • Ensuring compliance: Ensure that the operation adheres to all health and safety regulations, including fire safety, licensing, and employment laws, creating a safe and compliant working environment for both staff and customers.
  • Building strong relationships: Liaise with clients, suppliers, and other professionals to build and maintain strong relationships that foster collaboration and success.
  • Identifying opportunities for growth: Stay ahead of industry trends by seeking out new service concepts and innovations that drive sales and enhance the customer experience.
  • Working Pattern: 5 days over 7, 37.5 hours a week

  • Proven experience of successfully managing multiple-sites and teams and working with external clients
  • Genuine interest in customer service excellence
  • A strong team player, inspiring and motivating to large teams
  • Previous experience managing multiple sites, contract catering desirable
