Full Job Description

Operations Support Executive/Assessor: The CPD Certification Service

Are you experienced, intelligent, educated, want to work from home and ready to join a great team with a starting salary of £30K?

The CPD Certification Service is a membership-based organisation that helps over 6,000 organisations produce world class training and information-based material. We have been doing for over 25 years, so we think ourselves as expert in the field. Continuing Professional Development, or CPD as it is often known, defines how we improve our skills and competences throughout our working life. It is often associated with membership of a recognised professional body and on the job training. Our Operations Team assess material submitted by members and certify it provided its good enough. Member organisations include The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Headquarters Secretariat (based in The Houses of Parliament), The Welsh Senedd, The World Health Organization, St Johns Ambulance, The Church of England and many others. This year we will process over 50,000 pieces of CPD material.

We all work from home and our growth means we wish to recruit at least one home-based full-time staff member to our team of 21. The annual starting salary is £30,000 raising to £32,000 after a six-month probationary period. Initial working hours will be 0900 to 1700 with flexible working becoming after probation.

If you are the successful applicant most of your time will be undertaking “case management”. This involves handling member submissions and supervising our processes through to certification. You must be able to cope with a demanding administrative burden, possess a ruthless attention to detail and be able to work independently. After completing the probationary period, you will then train as an assessor; a role that allows you to determine if the CPD submissions you review are suitable for certification. Topics will cover practically everything from cupcake making, trapeze artistry, Safeguarding, NATO battlefield injury treatment and just about anything in between.

To be the right person you must be educated to tertiary level, possibly have experience in an educational or training environment, possess excellent English language skills and be familiar with Microsoft Office products. After interview you will be asked to take a simple English grammar test.

As role is fully home based there are two major things you will need to prove before we can offer you a job. They are that:

  • You can prove that you have a suitable working location. We can’t recruit someone whose idea of a safe workspace is a shared room, the kitchen table or sitting on a beanbag.
  • You must have broadband with a minimum 40MB download speed.

We provide all the IT equipment you will need and ensure you have the correct DSE compliant environment in which to start work.

You are strongly encouraged to learn more about us and CPD in general before interview which will take place via video link, so before applying have a really good look at our website.

To apply, and please read this next bit carefully:

  • Send us a covering note explaining what you can do for us based on your understanding of what we do.
  • Please tell us about your proposed home workspace.
  • Attach a full CV, with a contact number.

All applications are to be made by email by clicking apply.

We are an equal opportunities employer and everyone who applies will be treated with courtesy and informed where they stand in the process. We always take up references.
