Full Job Description

The Operations Volunteer Support role involves collaborating with the Dog Training and Technical Staff Training teams to create and manage a variety of support materials for operations volunteers, as well as assisting in the development of training programmes.

In this role, you will contribute to projects focused on volunteer and puppy development. You will be responsible for creating handouts, videos, and web pages to support volunteer development. You will also help maintain and update online resources for volunteers. Additionally, you will undertake ad hoc projects and support Learning & Development career initiatives by providing teaching and coaching to staff when required.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver the induction presentation to volunteer applicants weekly, and orient new staff to the support materials available to volunteers.

  • Assist in organising site-based activities and updates for volunteers, including creating news posts, sending emails and invitations, and attending events where necessary.

  • Review and update materials on Microsoft SharePoint to ensure they are current and fit for purpose. Collaborate with staff and volunteers to plan and contribute to the overarching volunteer training programme.

  • Work with the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator and the Volunteer Focus Group to identify needs and develop effective support strategies.

  • Promote the development of volunteers' skills, for example, by running training sessions for volunteers or staff in groups and one-to-one sessions as required.

  • Process feedback from Operations volunteer survey responses, and arrange conversations with volunteers to gather more specific information. Provide feedback to relevant staff members.

  • Manage your own daily and weekly workload through effective diary planning.

  • Act as an influential motivator of the Charity's Values and Culture, promoting professionalism, kindness, respect, and empathy towards volunteers, recipients, and fellow staff members.

  • Develop and maintain a team culture that is resilient and creative, fostering problem-solving through coaching and mentoring.

  • Attend regular team meetings to discuss, share, and review performance, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
