Full Job Description
As an Operator you will assist a Craftsperson with construction, maintenance, replacement and repair of underground networks up to and including 33kV., The work will involve being away from the depot, working on your own or in a team of two people. The working environment requires quick, decisive and responsible actions to meet the demands of the role. Duties may include :
- The operation of mechanical equipment
- Minimising the adverse impact of own activities on customers
- Advising customers affected of the impact of own activities
- Resolving customer complaints wherever possible
- Maintaining tools, equipment and vehicles in a safe condition
- Routine inspection and repairs of equipment
To apply, you will need to hold English & Maths GCSE (1-9 / G-A) or equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level in these subjects, such as Functional Skills., You will need to be flexible in your approach to assist the team in meeting its objectives. In addition, you will need to be mobile throughout the area as you may be required to undertake standby duties, therefore a valid driving licence is essential. HGV or excavator experience would be beneficial but is not a necessity. You will ideally also have some experience in the electrical field although all necessary training will be provided.
