An opportunity has arisen within the Ophthalmology department for a Theatre Scheduler. The role is to pro-actively manage and maintain a comprehensive record of patients waiting for elective admission, both day case and inpatient on the Patient Administration System (PAS). The post holder will be responsible for the production and organisation of theatre lists, arranging and contacting patients for pre-operative assessment and for admission. The Theatre Scheduler is responsible for scheduling all theatre lists in conjunction with the relevant Consultants., To proactively manage the efficient scheduling of inpatient and day case procedures across the sub-division. Key responsibilities include adding patients to the waiting list, scheduling patients into appropriate theatre slots within RTT targets, support and report to Support Manager/Service Manager and escalate issues appropriately., To proactively manage the efficient scheduling of inpatient and day case procedures across the sub-division. The post holder will be required to work with minimal supervision and have the ability to exercise sound judgement and will be required to use decision making skills.

Excellent accuracy, organisational and communication skills are essential for this post, liaising with both the general public and colleagues including Consultant level and theatre staff etc. The ability to work under pressure and to use one's own initiative is also essential in this role. A knowledge of RTT validation and excel experience is also desirable., The post holder will be required to work with minimal supervision and have the ability to exercise sound judgement and will be required to use decision making skills.
