The Theatre Equipment Coordinator forms part of the new Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre team at Maidstone Hospital. Over 200 new posts will support the new Centre, which is part of a national scheme to deliver more than 50 new surgical hubs across England. The new Centre will treat patients from across the region, increasing the Trust's capacity for planned surgical procedures. The Centre will contain the latest novel open plan laminar flow theatres; open-plan surgical areas where up to three patients are treated in a dedicated space with a specialised air canopy over each station to prevent the spread of infection. The new facility will also include a 14-bed inpatient ward and a 10-bed day case ward, with recovery, x-ray and therapy space, all within a dedicated elective building. We are seeking an experienced Theatre Equipment Coordinator familiar with Orthopaedic instrumentation / implants to ensure a safe, effective perioperative service is provided to patients and Consultant users. The Orthopaedic Equipment Co-ordinator will provide assistance in ordering, receiving, assisting in the process of sterilising equipment and return of loan equipment required by the Surgeon in the operating theatres. They will adhere with Theatre Standard Operational Procedure for loan Kit Booking Policy. Main duties of the job The Orthopaedic Equipment Co-ordinator (OEC), will work with the Lead and Senior theatre practitioners with in the Trauma and Orthopaedic specialities, to effective co-ordinate the prosthesis and instrumentation within the operating theatre. As well as working within Stores, making sure the consumables are available when needed. The Centre will expand orthopaedic surgical capacity across Kent and Medway, playing an important part in elective recovery and the reduction of patient waiting times across the region. The Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre will work alongside our existing services to provide care. Our amazing Maidstone Orthopaedic Centre (MOU) and Maidstone Short Stay Unit (MSSU) will all continue.
- Maths and English Level 2 or equivalent
- NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration Customer Care or equivalent working experience. Desirable criteria European Computer Driving License (ECDL). Experience and Knowledge Essential criteria Knowledge of the operating theatres Desirable criteria
- Working knowledge of inventory management and replenishment systems
- Warehouse, inventory management or stock replenishment experience, Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to analyse data, identifying trends and make evidence based recommendations
- Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
