Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and motivated individual to join the Orthopaedic Research team. At Barts Health we pride ourselves in delivering the latest in evidence-based healthcare. We are looking for an experienced, dynamic individual to join the Orthopaedic Research team at Barts Health. Applicants ideally will have an AHP or nursing background in Musculoskeletal AND/OR orthopaedics and should be willing to help our team to work with other hospitals both nationally and internationally to develop and deliver research into the latest practice in Musculoskeletal/Orthopaedic Medicine. The post-holder will be a senior member of the Orthopaedic research team and will be responsible for the operational management of the Orthopaedic research office. The post-holder will be joining a team that is well established and has national recognition for research excellence., The role will involve close working with the academic group Barts Bone & Joint Health within Queen Mary University. The post-holder will ensure there are systems in place for accurate and timely research project notification and approval and that all such projects meet all the necessary research governance and regulatory requirements required for the Trust to either sponsor or host them. The chosen individual will liaise with finance colleagues to ensure that projects are accurately costed and work closely with the staff of the Joint Research & Development Office for Barts Health NHS Trust and Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

The post holder will collaborate with key personnel to conduct in-house, national and international phase clinical trials and audit and will have managerial responsibility for research physiotherapists across the three orthopaedic departments of the combined trust. The post holder will work and provide guidance to colleagues working in a similar capacity in other trusts and will aim to develop relationships with academic institutions, industry and other specialities to develop research protocols and assist in the delivery at a Trust level. The post holder will assist in strategic development for portfolio research in central and east London but particularly at Barts Health.
