Full Job Description

  • Please note, the NHS salary scales have recently changed and are expected to come into effect in October. New starters joining the Trust before this time will commence on the old payscales and will move to the new ones once they have been finalised

  • To be host and receptionist to patients and visitors who attend the Orthopaedic OPD.
    Attending patients and making further appointments on the computer, entering data, completing audits, dealing with patient's notes and ensuring relevant documentation is available for consultation. There will also be an opportunity to extend your experience and confidence in supporting clinics alongside care support and nursing staff as required
    This job involves working with a team of nursing and support staff, plaster technicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team within orthopaedics as part of the administration service that assists consultants and middle grade doctors in providing patient care., + Perrforms reception desk duties, dealing with patient enquiries, directing patients to waiting areas and ensuring effective communication at all times.
    + Answering the telephone and taking messages.
    + Reporting to the department manager items for repair and liaising with the works department by following agreed procedures.
    + Making appointments as and when required.
    + Liaising with other departments and disciplines.
    + Ensure reports and referral letters are escalated to the appropriate people/departments within timescales.
    + Prioritising workload and work on own initiative.
    + Ensuring case notes are assembled following written guidelines and documentation contained therein is correct.
    + Providing appropriate cover for other department clerks as required during sickness, absence and annual leave.
    + Assisting with maintaining Health and Safety at work.
    + Assisting with COSHH assessment.
    + Maintaining and updating the patient PCS computer system.
    + Complying with the requirements of the Caldicott Report, Data protection Act, Access to Health Records Act and subsequent legislation issued in relation to computer retained data, preserving the confidentiality of patient identifiable data at all times.
    + Attending and completing mandatory training as per you ESR requirements.
    + Independently organise the department's administration processes efficiently in a complex, changing environment seeking support where necessary.
    + Manage multiple tasks ensuring deadlines are met.
