Orthopaedic Practitioner / Plaster Room Technician

The Post holder is required to hold an up to date BOA casting certificate, and have experience and be competent in applying a wide range of casts, in gypsona, light weight synthetic and soft cast. Able to use Plaster saw for safe cast removal. Work closely with consultants and team,

• The Post holder is required to hold an up to date BOA casting certificate, and have experience and be competent in applying a wide range of casts, in gypsona, light weight synthetic and soft cast. Able to use Plaster saw for safe cast removal. Be able to apply braces and splints.
• Act as a professional role model to junior staff and demonstrate leadership qualities
• Provide expert clinical knowledge and skills within the department
• Work with the department manager and nursing team to develop and promote best practice
• work with in their on limitations and competencies.
• maintaining plaster room safety ie: saws and equipment
• maintain casting product levels
• You will be required to attend Theatres and the wards to apply and remove casts as needed.
• you will be required to facilitate and chaperone in clinics as require
