Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a flexible and motivated individual to join the surgical secretariat team working as a Pathway Coordinator/Support Secretary within Trauma and Orthopaedics This is a part time, 22 hour/week substantive post and the post holder will work these hours across Monday - Friday. You will provide secretarial/administrative services to the Consultant team within the established team and also support existing medical secretaries by providing a quality and efficient service to our surgeons and patients. You will act as the point of contact for patients and clinical staff, and ensure that all queries are answered with skill, sensitivity and in a courteous and professional manner, Responsibilities of this role cover a wide range of administration and secretarial duties including audio typing clinical correspondence from digital dictation, clinic preparation, appointment scheduling, and waiting list management including management of patients transferred from other providers, diary management and dealing with a wide range of telephone queries therefore a flexible approach to workload is required.

Applicants must be confident communicators with the ability to liaise with staff at all levels. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate good customer service skills as interaction with patients and relatives will be a daily occurrence and may require a sensitive approach. Essential qualities include strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure. Applicants should be able to demonstrate previous experience within an administration/secretarial setting and have a minimum of one years' experience of working in a patient orientated environment
