Full Job Description

1. Support staff by undertaking administration duties in the Maternity Care Centre, Day Assessment Unit and Antenatal clinic
2. Welcome women, birthing people to the department, check personal details are correct, escort to a room, as advised by the midwife.
3. Respond to all queries ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
4. Ensure telephone calls are responded to in a kind and compassionate manner.
5. Refer all telephone calls in relation to clinical matters to the midwife.
6. Assist in co-ordinating the booking of bank midwives where appropriate.
7. Liaise with other department/wards as appropriate.
8. Review incoming correspondence and take action as agreed with the co-ordinating midwife.
9. Ensure patients records, (both computerized and paper copies), are available and maintained throughout the patients care experience including filing when required.
10. Responsible for recording Admission, Discharge and Transfer into data system in a timely manner.

11. Complete and keep up to date any daily administrative tasks and the communication board/diary
12. Order non-stock items and stationery as required
13. Monitor inboxes for Out of Area referrals, re-direct as necessary.
14. Complete printing orders/photocopying as required
15. Liaise with supplies department to ensure the effective use of materials management and any non-stock items as requested by the senior midwife
16. Report and complete works request book for all maintenance and repairs and expedite where necessary.
1. Maintain and organise reception areas
2. Keep patient information stocked to appropriate levels
3. Collate statistics when required by senior midwife
4. Keep a log of equipment and send to biomed when servicing is required
Patient Client Care
5. This role does not have a significant patient care component. Post holder is expected to deal with patients in a polite and helpful manner, ensuring confidentiality, should the need arise.

Candidates are responsible for covering the cost of their own DBS check if required: £18 for a Standard DBS check, recoverable from the first pay, or £38 for an Enhanced DBS check, divided and recoverable over the initial two pay periods. Payment for DBS checks for bank posts must be settled prior to commencement. Apprentices are exempt from DBS payment.
