Full Job Description

The Chargehand assists the department Supervisor at Certech UK; ensuring the employees production guidelines are met within established timing and quality standards. Working alongside the Operations Supervisor the Chargehand will ensure the products are produced to the quality specification.,

  • To ensure all products are manufactured to the highest quality standards ensuring they are checked for conformance to any relevant Technical Instructions (SOP/SPI), working strictly to the department's quality procedures and request Supervisor, Engineering and/or Quality support where changes or improvements are required to procedures or documentation.

  • Learn & be involved in the change management process.

  • To monitor and maintain production adherence to ensure OTD of the weekly schedules.

  • Assist the Operations Supervisor in daily team briefs using the department KPI data, identify and action issues that are raised at the meetings and ensure improvement actions are executed to pla

  • Conduct Team Briefs and tool box talks as required.

  • Assist with regular 1-2-1s with your team, responding to issues, working through areas for improvement and escalating concerns to the relevant departmen

  • To assist in creating & maintaining a training plan that supports operational requirements.

  • To ensure the daily T&A for your team is completed in an accurate & timely manner..

  • To collaborate with the engineering team regarding any processing issues and to ensure the smooth introduction of any new products.

  • To collaborate with other Team Leaders within Certech to allow the successful delivery and alignment of performance objectives.


  • Environmental, Safety, Risk & Compliance
  • To conduct immediate investigations and containment of any accidents, incidents, quality issues, customer complaints or noncompliance issues as requested by the department Manager by taking statements when appropriate to do so and conducting RCA through the recognised process with clear outcomes and actions recorded on the action tracker relevant to your department to avoid reoccurrence and to drive improvements.

  • To ensure team members have been adequately briefed on the operations tasked to them.

  • To ensure team members have the correct tools, equipment and Technical Instructions (SOP/SPI) necessary to complete task.

  • To ensure work has been completed by team members in accordance with all relevant Technical Instructions (SOP/SPI).

  • To ensure entries on documentation (Operator Stamps) are complete and legible and all stages within their area of responsibility are complete.

  • To report, action and update any near misses submitted by your team and escalate to the department manager if corrective actions cannot be closed out satisfactorily within the team.

  • To help monitor and maintain risk assessments within your area to ensure all hazards and risks that could pose danger to employees are identified and addressed.

  • To be committed to the Group-wide ethics and compliance programme; ensuring a common approach to doing

  • business the right way and adhering at all times to the core elements of the programme - values, policies/guidance, training/education and compliance risk assessmen

  • To actively participate in the 'ThinkSAFE' processes including but not limited to; Near Miss Reporting, DWB's, Safety Stand-Downs,

  • To drive improvements in near miss reporting as agreed by the SLT.

  • To maintain the housekeeping to a high standard and ensure the area is always "visit ready" by doing daily checks.

  • Ensure all Health & Safety rules and regulations are adhered to, through regular inspections and ensure issues are either corrected or escalated using the resources within the company, in line with the company's procedures.

  • To ensure that waste is correctly organised, stored, controlled and disposed of.

  • To support the EHS team to reduce the overall risk to employees within your area of responsibility

  • To ensure the section remains compliant with all HSAWA regulations including but not limited to COSHH, LOLER, PUWER, PPE, Risk Assessments, Accident Reporting and any other Mandatory Regulation or a Morgan Group Directive.

    · ILM Level 2 or above in Team Leading

    · IOSH Working Safely

    · GCSE/O Level qualifications in grade C or above

    · Experience working in a manufacturing environment desired

    · Have previous experience in managing a team

    · Experience of making decisions in a timely manner
