Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge. We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Outreach and Communications Coordinator to support the delivery of effective multi-channel communications for the Department. The Department of Sociology is one of the four departments within the Faculty of Human, Social and Political Science, alongside the Departments of Archaeology, Social Anthropology and POLIS (Politics and International Studies). This varied and dynamic role has key responsibilities in the provision of, and support for, all areas of communications and outreach activities. The role holder will focus on the dissemination and promotion of the world class teaching and research in the Department, and on increasing interest from prospective students in its courses. The role encompasses four main areas: Website, Events, Publicity and Outreach.
Candidates will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, work effectively as part of a team and have the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will have excellent planning and organisational skills, experience in using a range of communications platforms, including social media and website content management systems, and demonstrate knowledge of audience-driven communications.
The post is available part-time at 40% (2 days per week or similar) until 31 July 2026 in the first instance, working Tuesdays in the office to support seminars.
