Full Job Description

Balfour Beatty are looking for an Overhead Line Trainer/Assessor to join our Power Transmission and Distribution Team. The OHL Trainer/Assessor will train and assess all activities associated with EHV Overhead lines operational requirements and set standards. The role will provide UK coverage, a company car will be provided and any expenses covered for overnight stays (if/when required).,

  • Promote and encourage a culture that aligns with and actively supports company values.
  • Perform all training, assessment and certification of OHL (Overhead Lines) Training for the business.
  • Train assess and verify construction activities such as plant and vocational qualifications.
  • Work in conjunction with the OHL Training Team Leader to develop added value training solutions in support of business needs now and in the future.
  • Understand the importance of corporate governance and ensure consistent measures and standards are applied.
  • What you'll be doing
  • Facilitate and maintain an effective communication flow and to build strong partnerships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders in order to meet site requirements for Overhead Lines training/assessing and certification to NVQ standard.
  • Assess all Over Head Linesmen to ensure they are compliant with current legislation and company standards
  • Work in conjunction with the Training team to continually evaluate the effectiveness of the training solution(s) in relation to business needs and realign where appropriate or to develop new training materials and review all existing training/learning material and where appropriate bring in line with the agreed standard/company branding as laid out by the Qualification & Design Consultant.
  • Assess/manage and deliver OHL Vocational Qualifications & apprenticeships
  • Train & Deliver various training packages (Rescue/Novice/Advanced climbers)
  • Produce yearly training programme for OHL training activity
  • Promote OHL training and source work where appropriate
  • Deliver various OHL Training and also assess at the annual Winter Training school
  • Travel throughout the UK with potential to travel worldwide assessing and delivering OHL & VQ Training
  • Support and drive a compliant and professional service in line with the Company and P & OD strategy.
  • Ensure that you develop your capabilities through continuing professional development

    Essential:
  • Experience of working within the OHL industry at an operative level
  • Knowledge of client authorisations
  • Significant experience maintaining OHL equipment and applying relevant safety precautions as per National Grid Safety Rules and NSI's.
  • Sound knowledge of OHL and maintenance/installation techniques and practices.
  • Sound understanding of the UK Electricity Transmission System.
  • Practical competence in the application of OHL maintenance techniques and practices.
  • Able to lead and manage work teams (Person in Charge).
  • Previous training experience, knowledge sharing, development and coaching of others would be advantageous.
  • To hold a UK full driving licence
  • Competent in use of MS Office - Excel, Word, Outlook

  • D32/33 workplace assessor qualification
  • Training and Assessment qualifications, CIPD/CPD accreditation (or equivalent)
