Packaging Technologist

As Part of a small Valued Added Service (VAS) team, you will work cross functionally with Marketing, Sales, Shopper Marketing, Planning, Gifting teams to develop and produce VAS/ Point of Sales materials.

You will develop a strong collaboration with co-packers to ensure fit for purpose for retail and consumer end-use and accurate VAS component technical specification. You will also be responsible for signing off BOM, Gold seal Sample and pallet specification for VAS finish goods with the Quality team.

You will also act as a consultant for Beiersdorf UK Marketing VAS Projects and look at ways to drive cost reduction on our VAS activity on packaging topics.

Your Tasks

• Develop and set up packaging for VAS projects


• Project manage and co-ordinate key packaging projects


• Lead the functional and structural design and development of Secondary and Tertiary packaging and components


• Work closely with the chosen packaging suppliers


• Appropriate testing of materials and coordinating production trials


• Write provisional packing specifications for VAS finished goods


• Ensure clear communication is always provided to all internal and external stakeholders


• Improve efficiencies and cost effectiveness through the design of packaging and production processes


• Maintain up to date awareness and communicate as relevant the changing commercial, legal, technical and environmental aspects of the packaging industry, packaging materials and innovations


• Mapping and sharing trends in latest packaging concepts / ideas in the marketplace.


• Being pro-active with new solutions and suggestions on how to improve our packaging and staying on trend with the latest packaging solutions.
  
  Qualification in Packaging Technology or have experience in co-packing and /or packaging technology


• Preferably some background working in a FMCG business


• Technical knowledge of packaging, co-packing (hand packing & machine packing) and industry best practice


• Up to date awareness of the commercial, legal, technical, and environmental aspects of packaging materials


• Problem Solving, finding Root cause and provide Solutions


• Pro-active, pragmatic, cost-conscious, creative & results driven


• Strong communication & interpersonal skills
