Full Job Description
+ Perform a comprehensive assessment of children and young people's acute health needs; plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to identified problems.
+ Utilise advanced clinical skills and higher level, autonomous decision-making skills in the assessment/diagnosis, management and treatment of illness and other health related issues
+ Utilise an evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and management of illness or exacerbation of an existing illness, including the clinical application of research findings relevant to the management of illness.
+ Contribute to the specialist education and training of others.
+ Engage in clinical supervision, self-reflection, audit and quality improvement initiatives which contribute to the improvement of care for service users and their families.
+ Contribute to the development of clinical services within acute paediatric hospital setting
+ Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of evidence-based advanced nursing care for children, young people and their families
· Act as a senior decision maker on the assessment unit in line with RCPCH standards for short stay paediatric assessment units.
+ Demonstrate high level clinical skills, including but not limited to, venepuncture and cannulation, catheterisation and lumbar punctures
The post holder will work on the paediatric assessment and observation unit at Bolton Foundation Trust. The post holder will have previously completed a Masters Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice and be registered as an independent non-medical prescriber with a relevant professional body.
The post holder will join an established team of 4 qualified APNA's to cover a 12 month fixed term post for maternity leave. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly across 7 days between 07:30 - midnight an a roster basis.
