Full Job Description

The post holder will work on the paediatric assessment and observation unit at Bolton Foundation Trust. The post holder will have previously completed a Masters Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice and be registered as an independent non-medical prescriber with a relevant professional body., The post holder will join an established team of 4 qualified APNA's to cover a 12 month fixed term post for maternity leave. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly across 7 days between 07:30 - midnight an a roster basis.

  • Perform a comprehensive assessment of children and young people's acute health needs; plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to identified problems.
  • Utilise advanced clinical skills and higher level, autonomous decision-making skills in the assessment/diagnosis, management and treatment of illness and other health related issues
  • Utilise an evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and management of illness or exacerbation of an existing illness, including the clinical application of research findings relevant to the management of illness.
  • Contribute to the specialist education and training of others.
  • Engage in clinical supervision, self-reflection, audit and quality improvement initiatives which contribute to the improvement of care for service users and their families.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical services within acute paediatric hospital setting
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of evidence-based advanced nursing care for children, young people and their families
  • · Act as a senior decision maker on the assessment unit in line with RCPCH standards for short stay paediatric assessment units.
  • Demonstrate high level clinical skills, including but not limited to, venepuncture and cannulation, catheterisation and lumbar punctures
