The team cover the geographical area of Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
The Community Children's Nursing service aims to promote early discharge from hospital and to prevent, where possible, planned or emergency admissions to hospital. Common referrals seen by the team include administration of intravenous antibiotics including p-OPAT, injections, wound care, post-surgical care, investigations, oxygen dependence and CAMHs nasogastric feeding pathway Avon and Wiltshire Mental health Partnership.
The role of the Paediatric Lead Community Children's Nurse is to lead the Community Children's Nursing team providing generalist health & nursing intervention for children and young people (0-18 years), based at home or community setting, within the national guidelines for best practice. The current service operates 7 days a week within the core working hours of 0800-1800, including bank holidays. The service aims to promote early discharge and prevent where possible reattendance at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. Exploration of new service delivery using innovative and cost efficient pathways will be a key part of this role., The post-holder will ensure that quality is sustained within service delivery by developing operational and clinical practice standards, recording activity and undertaking audit and research which directly relates to clinical practice as well as the operational components of the service.
The post holder will be responsible for procurement, budget and deployment of all resources including equipment, clinical materials and personnel., the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. The applicant must have considerable, recent paediatric nursing experience, preferably with experience of working in a community setting. The applicant must have the ability to work autonomously and work well in a small team. Car driver and access to own vehicle is essential.
