Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, dedicated and innovative highly specialist Paediatric Audiologist to join our Team. The Paediatric Audiology Service is based at North Manchester General Hospital, and delivers services across the community of North Manchester.

The post holder will be a passionate clinician, focused on ensuring a strong evidence base to decision making, with highly specialist knowledge and experience in routine and complex paediatric diagnostics and rehabilitation including ABR.

The post holder is expected to be an active leader and a positive role model for the service who will jointly lead the delivery and development of the Paediatric Audiology service in collaboration with current Paediatric Lead and Clinical and Operational Head of Service.MFT North Audiology are a forward-thinking service, and staff are expected to be flexible and proactive in their approach to providing a first-class service to our child aged population.

Main duties of the job

To take leadership responsibility for the clinical aspect of the paediatric hearing service, including the evaluation and quality assurance and the ongoing development of the service, supported by Head of Service.

To be the paediatric clinical lead for the hearing service as required by the Head of Audiology.

Undertake hearing assessment of adult and children of all ages. This to undertake all routine and complex Paediatric Audiological test procedures for the Paediatric Service, in line with National, Professional and departmental Protocols.

Lead NHSP ABR / Complex ABR caseload and support band 6 regarding ABR competencies and assessment.

Undertake paediatric hearing aid assessment, fitting, and ongoing support of children and families, according to recommended procedures, primarily complex and non-routine cases; and support Band 6 staff with routine cases.

To take the lead in audits, and research.

Understand Paediatric Service KPI performance and liaise with Head of Service regarding activity

Lead on service development, clinician peer review and competency, updating departmental protocols.

Planning and delivering necessary requirements for IQIPS accreditation and implementing necessary continuous improvements whilst directly supported by Head of Service

Identify Paediatric service wide issues relating to service pressures, Paediatric staff performance, achievement of KPIs and targets and capacity issues and liaise with Head of Service of potential issues.
