Full Job Description

The post holder will work in the paediatric neuroinflammatory service in Oxford and have opportunity to gain experience in diagnosis and management of multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, MOGAD and autoimmune encephalitis. The psot holder will work within 2 nationally commissioned highly specialised services ( Paediatric Multiple Sclerosis and NMO service) There are several educational opportunities within these specialist services including opportunities for national and international collaborative projects. The post is primarily aimed at individuals wishing to develop specialty skills in the diagnosis and management of children and young people with neuroinflammatory disorders. For those interested, there will be research projects for the individual to pursue., The post holder will be responsible for under consultant supervision, inpatient and outpatient management of children and young people with neuroinflammatory disorders. This will include attending outpatient clinics, inpatient reviews, arranging admissions for investigations and disease modifying treatments. The post holder will work closely with the neuroinflammatory specialist nurse and the administrator to complete monthly reporting and annual reporting. The post holder will under consultant supervision complete bluetaq forms and MDT discussion proformas. The post holder will have opportunity to attend general neurology clinics and neurology multi-disciplinary team meetings.

This is an exciting opportunity for a trainee in paediatric or paediatric neurology (or a doctor hoping to specialise in neurology or an allied specialty) to gain specialist experience in the diagnosis and management of paediatric neuroinflammatory disorders.,

  • Full GMC with licence to practice
  • Evidence of interest in a Neurologically associated specialty Adult or Paediatric
  • Desirable criteria
  • MRCP, MRCPCH or equivalent, Minimum 6 months NHS experience
  • Ability to undertake direct original clinical research in the neurosciences
  • Desirable criteria
  • General core medical or Paediatric training completed according to training requirements, Leadership - ability to motivate and aid other members of the team.
  • Organisational skills
  • Good personal/interpersonal skills.
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Able to take on responsibility and communicate within the team.
  • Basic computing skills
  • Team working skills
  • Good writing and analytical skills
  • Good general medical knowledge at level expected of core medical training according to training requirements
  • Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of ability to use word processor, spreadsheet programme and web browser
  • Evidence of ability to write papers and present .
  • Knowledge of the organisation of the NHS., You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
