Full Job Description

Following a retendering process, the children's service is due to be transferred to the new provider on the 1st of April 2025. Given this post sits within the transferring service, in line with the legislative requirements, the successful candidate will be part of the TUPE transfer along with other colleagues

Children and Family Health Surrey provides a dynamic and forward thinking community OT service, we are seeking to recruit to a post that will offer the opportunity to blend community and School Based practice.

The post will have a strong emphasis on development and regular supervision will be made available as will the opportunity to attend in-service as well as external training. The service has a strong focus on leadership and mentoring and also promotes peer supervision at all levels of experience. Therapists are encouraged to develop a broad skill mix as well as being able to focus on areas of interest in practice., This post will offer the successful candidates the opportunity to work alongside our supportive team of experienced therapists and assistants in providing a high quality occupation based provision to children aged 0-19 years.

The post holder will enjoy a varied caseload, practicing occupation-focused therapy in a wide range of community settings such as Schools & Nurseries, community health settings as well as home environments. OT practice at CFHS is guided by providing a function-focused and strongly evidenced based practice that supports children and young people to engage with their necessary and chosen occupations with independence, dignity and success. Our service works in partnership with the local authority to ensure that Occupational Therapy provisions as part of the Education Health and Care Plans are delivered and managed effectively and efficiently. We share strong working relationships with our multi-disciplinary colleagues in Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy as well as Developmental Paediatricians, in addition to Educational Psychology and Early years services within Surrey County Council.

We welcome applications from experienced qualified therapists as well as those who are seeking a change of specialism, therefore experience of working with children is desirable but not essential., Due to the community nature of this post, candidates will need to be able to work independently, have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of the multidisciplinary team.
