Full Job Description
The Occupational Therapists sit within the West Disabled Children and Therapy team. This team is made up of social workers, disabled children and family workers, SCIP workers and portgage workers. The team works closely with colleagues across social care, education and the NHS. The OT team will work with children and young people from birth to 18 with a range of physical and learning disabilities., You will work as part of an OT team that sits within the larger multi-disciplinary team. In the west OT team there are currently four OTs - two part time band 7s, a full time band 6 and a full time band 5 (this post). You will work collaboratively with children, their families and other professionals and agencies to assess children's needs and develop intervention plans.
As an outcome of your assessments you will make recommendations on equipment and adaptations that children require to access their homes and schools as well as carry out activities of daily living. You will be supported in this by the other OTs in your team through both formal and informal supervision.
You will be expected to join and contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings and make professional recommendations. There are opportunities within the service to develop your skills as an OT through training and shadowing. There is also opportunities to develop your supervising skills through student placements and you will also be invited to contribute towards service development.
