Full Job Description

Acts as Clinical Specialist for Neurodisability in children and young people for the Children and Young People's Therapy Service (CYPTS), as part of the OT Clinical Leads group. This post holder will have clinical specialism in Neurodisability representing the CYPTS on relevant multi-agency groups and advising the CYPTS management team, other OT colleagues, service users and managers of partner services and agencies on issues that relate to these clinical areas.

In conjunction with the other clinical lead Occupational Therapists leads the paediatric OT (OT) service across the county providing specialist OT advice to the management team. The post is countywide and involves supervision of Band 6 staff specialising in this area, and training and support to the wider team.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an organised, people person, with an enthusiasm for improving OT services for Children and Young People to join the CYPTS in a OT Clinical Lead role.

You will act as Clinical Specialist for Neurodisability in children and young people for the Paediatric Occupational Therapy team. You will provide specialist OT advice to the wider clinical and management teams.

The post is county wide and involves supervision, training and support to colleagues across the four locality bases. CYPTS is comprised of four area teams , including Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Support Workers and Administrators working geographically across Somerset usually in clinics, schools, preschool settings and family homes. We have a close working partnership with education and with health colleagues in both acute and community teams.
