Full Job Description

Bristol Royal Hospital for Children is a specialised tertiary hospital, often taking the most complex referrals from both local and national centres and a designated major trauma centre for the South West of England. The successful candidate will provide highly specialist physiotherapy for children within neurosciences and the complex movement disorder service at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. Within the Complex Movement Disorder Service the post-holder will assist in the development and delivery of the intrathecal baclofen service and a deep brain stimulation service as a member of the multidisciplinary team, and provide a source of expertise locally, nationally and internationally.,

  • To take the lead therapy role in the management of the intrathecal baclofen service alongside a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Work within the paediatric deep brain stimulation team to deliver comprehensive and specialised assessments, and support in the post-operative management of children following surgery.
  • Provide a highly specialised service that includes the assessment, treatment and management of children referred to the complex movement disorder service (CMD), assisting in the development, planning and progression of service provision.
  • Act as a source of expertise and demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in the highly skilled management of children with complex neurological needs.
  • To provide specialist advice to other members of the multi-disciplinary team and to provide clinical education and training to others within the Trust and externally.
  • Be an active member of the weekend on-call service, undertaking assessment and treatment of acutely ill children.
