Full Job Description

We are a 10 bedded Paediatric Critical Care Unit, based within a busy teaching hospital in North East London. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Paediatric Critical Care Practice Development nurse, who is keen to enhance the skills and confidence of our continually developing team. This should be someone who is able to create an environment for staff development that is supportive and encourages staff education, through a process of work-based competencies, whilst providing continuing support to all bands of clinical staff in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.

Through a process of support/supervision enables ward staff/teams to assess, prescribe/develop, implement and evaluate standards/programmes of care, providing advice and support to develop methods to evaluate care delivered where required. The post holder will ensure that agreed standards are followed to provide a safe environment for both children and their families. To ensure that effective communication exists between themselves, nursing colleagues, medical staff, multidisciplinary teams, patients and/or their relatives, providing specialist advice and support where appropriate.

The post holder will deliver educational programs in relation to Clinical Practice and Professional Development to support service delivery as well as carrying out other managerial duties as required by the senior nurse/matron and commensurate with the level of the post

We are looking to recruit a Practice Development Nurse to join our team, to deliver education and support to our Paediatric Critical Care nurses working within our trust. You need to have a strong ability for multidisciplinary working, excellent leadership qualities, as well as the organisational and communication skills to contribute to the future development of the service., You will be required to have Paediatric registration, the Paediatric Critical Care course, mentorship/teaching and assessing modules and have had experience at band 6. You will need to have at least three years post registration experience in Paediatric Critical Care.
