Paediatric Speech & Language Therapist

Role 1 is 1.0 WTE post working in the mainstream schools service in the Ipswich/Woodbridge/Saxmundham areas. Covering a variety of settings including mainstream schools, specialist units attached to mainstream schools, occasionally clinic or home visits.
Role 2 is a 1.0 WTE mixed post working in the mainstream schools service in east Suffolk and special schools in the Ipswich area to include students with profound, severe and complex learning needs. This post also covers a small cohort of children not in school.
Both posts provide support to children and their therapy partners during the school holidays where appropriate. We offer in house support to develop your clinical and theoretical knowledge, skills and experience working with varied paediatric caseloads. As a team we are strongly committed to delivery of effective, evidence-based therapy, and we offer regular clinical and management supervision and CPD opportunities.
We would welcome any applicants at the start of their career or those with current applicable experience especially in assessment & intervention of children and young people's speech, language and communication needs, experience working with therapy partners (parent/carers and educational staff), a passion/interest in delivering 1:1 and/or group therapy in schools, and an interest in delivering training., The successful candidate will:
Work with school-aged children and young people with a broad range of speech, language, and communication presentations including complex needs.
Work independently to provide regular assessment sessions throughout the key stages of the patient journey.
Plan and deliver therapeutic interventions to children and young people.
Offer face-to-face sessions with some virtual working opportunities such as delivering training to school staff.
Understand typical and atypical development of speech, language, and communication skills.
Select and successfully interpret a range of appropriate formal and informal assessments.
Evaluate student progress to update EHCP targets and write Annual Review reports seeking support from senior colleagues as required.
Be able to use AAC to support communication skill development, Have good organisational skills to be able to coordinate, organise and book sessions on a regular basis.
To work closely in partnership with families, educational staff and the wider professional team to support effective outcomes for children and young people
Support delivery of training packages to parents/carers and educational staff (both face to face and virtually)
Be able to travel between different venues on a regular basis within the working day.
· The primary purpose of this role is to provide a high standard of Speech and Language Therapy to children and young people aged 0-19 with a range of speech, language, and communication presentations.
· This community-based role may involve working in a variety of settings, including clinics, mainstream schools, specialist units (SSUs), special schools, nurseries or homes, according to service need.
· To effectively manage an autonomous clinical caseload and undertake professional duties as a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, seeking advice from senior staff where appropriate.
· To maintain an active continual professional development portfolio and to continue with post graduate learning.
· To communicate effectively in both clinical and non-clinical settings

Be able to work effectively and flexibly with a variety of people, in a variety of settings.
Have strong emerging or established personal communication skills to convey key information to service users, colleagues, and other professionals.
Be familiar and confident with computer-based record keeping and Microsoft packages.
