Full Job Description
Paediatric Staff Nurse wanted for our Paediatric High Dependency Unit to work weekdays, weekends, bank holidays and nights to meet the needs of the service
We're looking for a keen enthusiastic nurse to join our busy or Paediatric High Dependency unit. The post would be suitable for someone with a minimum of 18 months post registration experience. We are currently the only stand alone PHDU in the region.
Paediatric High Dependency is a 4 bedded unit which cares for children from 0-16years requiring level 2 critical care.
We offer a variety of experience and look after a range of specialties covering paediatric medicine and surgery and are well developed in our non-invasive ventilation support., We work closely with the other Paediatric wards, the multidisciplinary team and with tertiary hospitals in the region to ensure children receive a high standard of care and effective treatment close to home.
A positive and progressive attitude is required along with excellent communication skills and the desire to work in a small friendly team.
Our philosophy is to work closely with families in a friendly environment with a commitment to the provision of high quality patient care.
We have a very close knit team in paediatric medicine. All 3 areas work well together under one ward manager. Many staff choose to work a few shifts a month in one of the areas outside of their base ward as they like the variety, and opportunity to learn and to utilise different skills. This has resulted in a cohesive and friendly team who recognise each other's pressures and support each other.
There are great development opportunities to suit your individual needs including.
+ In-house training/Skills passport
+ Access to regional critical care network training
+ EPLS
+ Rotational opportunities
It is an exciting time to be joining our PHDU as we have recently moved move to a newly built area with separate accommodation for families and improved facilities
We are looking for people who are motivated to learn and have a desire to work as part of a dynamic team.
The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.
Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.
Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.
As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.
We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
