The responsibility of the RegisteredChildrens Nurse is to work within the Outpatient and Inpatient Departmentsdelivering high standards of evidence-based care to children and young people,whilst supporting their parents / carers and paying attention to any safeguardingneeds. As a registered childrens nurse, the post holder during their span ofduty is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluationof childrens care according to their age and stage of development. The postholder will work flexibly alongside the multi-disciplinary team members to meetthe needs of the service KEY RELATIONSHIPS Line Manager is Childrens LeadNurse Work in close relationship with wardstaff and Consultants, administration staff, porters, HODs and SMT Liaise with other hospitaldepartments, wards, administration and staffing agencies KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Liaison withthe Finance Team to ensure all workplace activity is captured via charge forms andall finance procedures are adhered to To control the stock levels ofsupplies so that they are appropriate in type and quantity to meet the clinicalrequirements and are within agreed financial targets To contribute to the analysis ofequipment / resource requirements and provide information on the options andjustifications To assist in effectively managingpatients length of stay To completepatient charges in a timely manner to assist finance team to accurately chargefor services provided Business Development To work withthe Hospital Manager and Line Manager to seek ways to expand the range andcomplexity of services available in order to gain volume and revenue Assist theHospital Manager and Line Manager to develop services within a rigorousbusiness framework to ensure that developing services are profitable Quality To haveknowledge of the Clinical Governance framework for the hospital and anunderstanding of their role within it; to support line manager in implementing highstandards Clinical Governance To supplyinformation to the line manager for quarterly and annual quality reports whichare prepared for discussion at the Clinical Governance Committee meetings AssistMatron / Line Manager to ensure the achievement of standards set by allrequired regulatory bodies To ensureall actions are undertaken to continually monitor and thus improve scores oninternal / external hospital audits To assistwith the management and the development of care pathways. To ensure the positive involvement of clinicians To work withmanagement to ensure maintenance of ISO and IIP awards To ensure all staff adhere to Information Governance (IG) regulations and company IG policy and procedures To gather information on clinical, technical and professional issues and assess its relevance to current / future activities Workforce To identify any concerns about the quality of work and initiate required actions To maintain accurate and comprehensive communication systems which ensure that staff receive information and instructions in a clear, concise and timely fashion To work autonomously implementing plans of care to ensure that the patients physical, social and psychological needs are met Ensure privacy and dignity of patients is maintained at all times Minimise risk of harm to patients, staff and visitors by working according to risk management policies Beingaware of the environment and reporting to manager any risks identified Tocontribute to and participate in the induction of new staff members to theunit To provide appropriate supervisionand direction to other nurses and junior members on the team, according totheir individual capabilities and known competencies Clinical Initiate, evaluate and maintain a high standard of care, ensuring that it is evidence based and compliant with best practice recommendations for childrens services, compliant with national and local guidelines and always in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct To maintain professional registration with the NMC and complete the revalidation process Ensure that care is family cantered, sensitive and responsive to the needs of the child / young person and their parents / carers Act asthe patients advocate and be effective in safeguarding children and theirfamilies To understand the different recommendations inpractice in the Independent Sector and how it differs to the NHS, to ensurecorrect procedures and guidelines are adhered to Participate in providing the means for children and their families to comment on the standard of care delivered in the outpatient and inpatient setting through feedback questionnaires; complete audits as required To be an effective role model inprovision of high standards of care Demonstrate independence in clinical decision making, acting a source of advice to other staff and using any specialists skills or knowledge effectively to develop paediatric services To maintain patient care standards and to effectively implement changes to care delivery systems, methods and nursing practice in order to bring about improvements in the quality of care Maintain excellent relationships with all Consultant medical staff inorder to resolve problems and identify opportunities To ensure that policies, procedures and protocols are developed and regularly updated to reflect current best practice and to monitor staff compliance Thisjob description is intended to reflect, in outline, the responsibilities of thepostholder, which may change over time with corporate or local business needsof Spencer Private Hospitals. Preferably looking to employ on a full time basis but willing to discuss hours if a candidate has all the attributes we are looking for., You would be ideally placed if you have experience of : pre-assessment; caring for children undergoing day surgery ENT ,urology and general surgery; admission and discharge of patients; pre and post-op care; observations and monitoring. A knowledge of the EKHUFT Sunrise and PAS databases would be beneficial, but training can be offered at induction. IT skills are essential to maintain communication with medical secretaries and colleagues. Proven proficiency in IV medication administration is desirable and we have the benefit of accessing the Trust training sessions to keep our skills up to date., Treating everyone as you would want to be treated.
