Full Job Description

  • During training, the post holder will be practicing autonomously within their agreed scope of practice, stage of training and level of competence to provide patient-centred quality care.
  • This will encompass the skills of advanced assessment, examination, diagnosis and management.
  • The tACP educational programme will blend academic university study with the acquisition of work-based clinical learning.
  • The successful candidate will be fully supported to undertake a Post Graduate Diploma/MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.
  • After successful completion of agreed objectives the post holder will progress to a band 8a ACP.
  • Main duties of the job To work within the Multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England (HEE 2017). The post holder will deliver an 80% clinical component to their role and 20% related to leadership and management, education and research. To play a key role in the clinical management of paediatric oncology patients within the Trust, working autonomously and interacting effectively within the multi-disciplinary team To be a highly visible clinical presence, acting as a role model and expert practitioner, to develop multi-agency and multi-disciplinary collaborative working To use clinical judgment and autonomous decision-making skills to meet the particular needs of paediatric oncology patients and will be expected to take part in the development of protocol driven management of patients and the administration of medicines and therapies within the patient group directives and nurse prescribing dependent on experience and training With appropriate training, the post holder will acquire expertise in the insertion of all types of central venous catheters (CVC's) as well as the knowledge of the complex management and problem-solving strategies associated with the use of such devices
